- my piece "zombie portraits" was screened as a part of the
international group exhibition "no time for utopia", which brought
together art & music video, animation film and documentary work
that each in their own way relates to the absence, failure or
collapse of the utopian concept. while most of the selected art
works resonated feelings of irreversible loss and post-apocalyptic
grief, the undercurrents in other videos downheartedly carried
ideas of escapism, nostalgia and hope.
- my pieces "bodybuilder vignettes" & "red room studies" were
featured in “body language" - the inaugural exhibition in the
ballrooms of historic memorial hall. ekin erkan of ÆQAI reviews the
works as "keen and clever, carefully balancing theory with personal
aesthetic... rampleman’s multi-channel vignettes and layered
subject-studies of femme personalities boldly negotiate activism
with voyeurism..."
REBEL REBEL features selected works which encourage and inspire
viewers to reconsider their perspectives on the female body and
femininity. these works engage viewers in a dynamic dialogue with
concepts of identity, subjectivity, and masculinity, and suggest
possibilities for what comes next after the post-feminism of
today’s digital reality. REBEL REBEL is designed as a virtual early
career retrospective.
my piece "bellmer burlesque" was screened at classic nyc venue
anthology film archives (international center for the preservation,
study, and exhibition of film and video, with a particular focus on
independent, experimental, and avant-garde cinema) as a part of
"single channel" - NURTUREart's video art festival. curated by
vanessa albury, ivan gilbert, and william penrose.
my new series “female masking studies” premiered at the 20/92 video
festival at the icebox project space at crane arts in philadelphia
march 8-10, 2018. the 20/92 video festival is a rare opportunity to
screen work at an unique scale and format. their dedicated
projection system allows for a continuous image to be cast upon its
eastern and northern walls, at a maximum size of 20’ x 92’. this
year’s 20/92 was juried by icebox directors ryan mccartney and
timothy belknap.
cate mcquaid of the boston globe reviewed "HARD: subversive
representation" at umass boston’s university hall gallery, which
featured my 10 channel installation "bodybuilder vignettes".
organized by sam toabe, HARD was a group exhibition that brought
together artworks from self-identified female artists who take
different approaches to representing female subjects, often through
subversive frameworks. with artworks spanning 1923–2018, it argued
that contemporary, post-modernist, modernist, and feminist artistic
approaches have and continue to expand the dynamism of the feminine
image, pushing beyond stereotypical, reductive, and unrealistic
visions of women.
my piece "bodybuilder study (pose, stroke, lift, carry)" was
included in san francisco's launch event for incite journal of
experimental media's newest issue, "sports", on march 3, 2018 in
the mission at other cinema at artists' television access.
organized by astria suparak and brett kashmere, other artists
included anil dash, paper rad, james blagden, and nathaniel dorsky.

my piece “untitled (madison square garden)" in the paddle8 auction
for CEPA gallery’s 14th biennial art auction, march 2018.
acquisitions support CEPA’s mission to provide working artists,
urban youth, and other individuals with the necessary programs and
facilities for the production and reception of contemporary art.
proceeds from this auction–which featured works by carolee
schneemann, cindy sherman, and hollis frampton, amongst
others–allow CEPA to continue offering free public exhibitions,
discount darkroom facilities, and nationally-recognized education
classes.
my piece “verge study” was featured in the exhibition “transitions”
at the paul robeson campus center gallery at rutgers university in
newark, nj. each year women in media – newark presents a thematic
exhibition of works by visual artists that coincides with their
annual film festival. this year’s theme was women in transition. on
view february 15 to march 28, 2018, transitions featured work from
20 artists in a range of media. the exhibition attempted to examine
the ways in which transitions or the state of transitioning impacts
the works of women artists. these transitions are inclusive of, but
not limited to gender identity transition, transition to
motherhood, transition in aging, transition in work, transition
through loss, transition in grief, transition in death. curated by
adrienne wheeler and gladys grauer for including
"talks back" was a screening program organized by angela washko
featuring video and performance-for-video works by women artists
who have opted to move away from the limitations of gallery
contexts and art world audiences and put themselves in conversation
with television and cinema (and their audiences). inspired by the
possibilities offered by public access television, reality
television and virtual environments, these artists bring new
meaning to films, television programming, and multi-user digital
spaces by inserting themselves into existing media narratives which
don’t often include their perspectives. through remixing their
bodies into found footage or literally getting onto reality
television programs, these artists assert the need for the
narratives of intersectional feminists in the mainstream media we
consume every day. artists in the program included morehshin
allahyari, ann hirsch, narcissister, rachel rampleman, suzie
silver, skawennati and angela washko.
my piece "untitled (coke & tequila-spiked raspberry slushie,
CO") was included in humble art foundation's group show "year in
reverse", curated by jon feinstein: 2017 has been a taxing year.
from the inauguration of a barbaric reality-tv star in the united
states to countless natural disasters, horrifying terrorist attacks
in various forms and a general feeling of cultural division around
the world, it can often seem like we humans are spiraling downward.
a massive photographic meditation on the year feels aptly
appropriate for our final group show of 2017. instead of producing
a collection of the "best photographs of 2017," this exhibition
serves as a reflection on the year. protest and unfortunate
violence. a still bubbling swamp. solar eclipse. pointlessly
drawing circles to no known end. highways tunnels with no clear end
point. falling figures and symbols of dislocation and deflation.
while there are some visualizations of hope and humor interspersed
throughout, "year in reverse" emphasizes the tension brooding this
past year, and the continuing uncertainty that lies ahead.
my video documentation of the women's march on washington (2017)
was featured dec 16, 2017 - jan 7, 2018 at KMAC museum in
louisville, ky, as a part of the important and inspiring traveling
"still they persist" collection/exhibition organized and presented
by the femfour. this collection of protest art from the women's
marches has so far been shown at wave pool gallery, (cincinnati,
oh), lexington art league, (lexington, ky) contemporary arts
center, (cincinnati, oh), salisbury university, (salisbury, md),
and will travel next to pro arts, (oakland, ca).
for halloween 2017, i premiered a new site specific series of
videos made from youtube zombie makeup tutorials at this amazing
old mill-turned-artspace for the wassaic project's annual haunted
mill, where artists transform the towering 7-story maxon mills into
an exciting halloween experience.
indiana nash of troy's daily gazette wrote about the "nasty women
of the north" exhibition and fundraiser at the arts center of the
capital region and collar works, which screened my documentary
footage of the women's march on washington (2017). organized by the
feminist art project of upstate new york, the show/event was
inspired by the national “nasty women” exhibit that was shown
earlier knockdown center in queens, new york. both exhibits focused
on feminism and activist-driven artwork, and helped to raise money
for planned parenthood.
dancing backwards in high heels - a survey screening of my video
work - was selected by the arts writer for citybeat as the staff
pick for art events of the week in cincinnati. a selection of my
documentary and experimental video work featuring single and
multi-channel pieces from the last decade was presented at the mini
microcinema. videos shown included works showcasing subjects,
muses, and collaborators i've worked with over the years such as
girls girls girls (the world's first and only all female mötley
crüe tribute band), tazzie colomb (the world's longest competing
female bodybuilder/powerlifter), LACTIC inc (an avant-garde
clothing brand that takes the detritus of corporate life and
reinterprets it into one-of-a-kind structural garments that
challenge the polarization of gender and critiques existing power
structures), among others.
kathy schwartz of citybeat reviews "pop press" at thunder-sky, and
highlights my new video "the power of makeup 2.0". inspired by
clippings culled from the popular press - community newspapers, tv
listings, advertising circulars - the artists of pop press explore
the intersection of commonplace experience and the irrational in an
examination of everyday absurdity. curated by scott bruno.
42 social club's press release / webpage for TORRENT - my solo
exhibition in lyme, ct in september - october of 2017. this
exhibition examined the notion of a torrent: defined as both a
rushing, violent, unceasing flow and the modern method of pirating
digital information. i premiered a new multi-channel video
installation continuing my explorations into the fascinating world
of youtube makeup tutorials. this time the lens was focused on a
strange, politically satirical, trend that has come to be known as
"trumping". this new work unveils a unique subculture of
female/femme-identifying makeup artists imitating, and often
mocking, donald trump. in TORRENT, these trumping videos were
contrasted with a series of bleak landscape photographs and
additional single / multi-channel video works, resulting in a
juxtaposition which reflected on the tumultuous state of the
nation.

my documentary style video "lactic incorporated; times square
shoot" was screened as a part of fashion tv live at vox bizarre, as
part of a program curated by randi shandroski of lactic
incorporated. fashion tv live was an evening of fashion, film and
discussion hosted by dusty childers, and featuring new video work
by me, deirdre sergeant, matt sparks, and nicholas steindorf.
founded in 2014, lactic incorporated is a boston/nyc based
avant-garde clothing brand that takes the detritus of corporate
life and reinterprets it into one-of-a-kind structural garments
that challenge the polarization of gender and critiques existing
power structures. many of the clothes are made from discarded
advertising banners, which are thoughtfully cut up and reconfigured
in a way that subverts corporate culture and underscores the
absurdity of modern advertising.
my most recent project/collaboration with artists/activists/fashion
designers LACTIC incorporated is now available for viewing online!

women pioneers of the NYC alt-burlesque scene (red room studies)
will be featured at x contemporary art fair in miami, dec 2017, in

who helped shape the careers of the century’s most important
artists. the dealers include betty parsons, eleanor ward, martha
jackson, virginia zabriskie, peggy guggenheim, and marian willard,
among others. over 40 works by artists whom these dealers
championed will be on view.
